Christmas Angels
The Christmas carol "Angels From The Realms", first appeared in print on Christmas Eve in 1819. Featured in this band arrangement, the carol first appeared in several hymnbooks in 1819, and quickly became a Christmas favorite throughout England. Over the years, the carol has been used with a variety of melodies. This arrangement uses three of the melodies, and is a delightful piece to perform. We highly recommend this James Curnow arrangement. "Christmas Angels - Concert Band" weighs 19.95 oz.

Estimated Performance Time: 3:00
Technical Notes: The keyboard percussion part is labeled "Mallet Percussion" and is for bells. The timpani part is written for two timpani, pitched in C and in F. The 1st percussion part is for large tom toms. The 2nd percussion part is for tambourine and suspended cymbal. Note To The Conductor: Though the music is generally not difficult, time will need to be given to the proper style and interpretation. Just in case you are not totally familiar with all three tunes, here is a brief guideline as to where the melody of each tune is heard. In measures 5-12, the first trumpet carries the melody. The trumpet, euphonium, and first alto saxophone carry the melody from measures 13-21. The tune Regent Square (second melody) is presented by the flute, oboe (later joined by the first alto saxophone) in measures 22-25. The trumpet picks up the tune, in an arpeggiated form, in measures 26-29; the full band gradually taks over the melody in measures 30-35. The third setting begins with the oboe, first clarinet, and first trumpet at measures 36-43. The remaining measures of this delightful tune are in a very contrapuntal setting where the melody is treated in a pointilistic style.
Arranger(s): This piece was arranged by James Curnow.
