Technical Notes: These playable interval theory lessons are designed to help directors improve the basic intonation characteristics of the ensemble while teaching some essential theory to the musicians. This publication does NOT cover all there is to know about intervals and tuning! For most young bands, though, a few basic improvements in intonation would do a great deal to help the general sound of the group. These lessons attempt to help the student musician learn to "think" and "hear" in tune as well as "play" in tune. They also help the student learn not to shy away from those important dissonant sounds. The 1st percussion part is marked for snare drum and bass drum. The 2nd percussion part is marked for triangle, temple blocks, crash cymbals, slapsticks, tambourine, maracas, claves, suspended cymbal, and woodblock. There are 5 pages of suggested teaching strategies given with the score to help with intervals, general tuning hints and hints for specific instruments.
Composer(s): "Interval Builders For Developing Bands" was composed by Mike Hannickel.
Publisher: "Interval Builders For Developing Bands" was published by Curnow Music Press.
Series: This piece was part of the series "Curnow Essentials Of Musicianship Series".
