Not Fade Away: A Backstage Pass To 20 Years Of Rock & Roll
In 1969, young rock reporter Ben Fong-Torres was hired by "Rolling Stone" publisher Jann Wenner to "come in and do what you think needs to be done." Now Fong-Torres revisits his most intriguing pieces and, for the first time, reveals the stories behind the stories, the stars, and life at "Rolling Stone." "Not Fade Away" is a compelling view of the world of rock and pop culture from the late '60s through the '80s, as seen by one of its first and most well-known journalists. Reflecting on these selected stories, and on his life in those days, Fong-Torres takes you backstage with: Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Ray Charles, The Jefferson Airplane, Jim Morrison, The Rolling Stones, Santana, The Grateful Dead, Hunter S. Thompson, and others. Superb writing, tons of in-depth information, and evocative photos make this a must-have book for any die-hard rock fan. Generally considered the greatest French composer since Debussy, Ravel combined skill in orchestration with meticulous technical command of harmonic resources. He was a great admirer of Debussy's music and could hardly avoid being influenced by him, although he eventually developed a style of his own which the critics often described as cold blooded and artificial. Of his more important works, "Jeux D'Eau" (Dancing Waters), written for solo piano, is one of the pieces that is most prevalent to musical historians. It is a technically demanding masterpiece from this 20th century master, well worth the effort from a solo pianist. "Maurice Ravel - Jeux D'eau - Piano Solo" weighs 2.24 oz.
