Alexander Gretchaninoff - The Grandfather's Book

Russian composer Alexander Gretchaninoff was known more for his sacred music than his operas or lighter pieces. But his unique use of rhythm and melodies brought him fame beyond the walls of the church, as well. This collection features a number of secular and whimsical movements meant to represent a lifetime of memories from the perspective of a grandfather. Written for piano solo, these challenging and melodically beautiful pieces are a joy to perform. "Alexander Gretchaninoff - The Grandfather's Book - Piano Solo" weighs 2.24 oz.

The Danish composer, organist and violinist, Niels Gade, began his musical career with the Danish Royal Orchestra. His first success as a composer came in 1840 with his overture Echoes of Ossian. It was at the debut of his first symphonic work where he met composers Mendelssohn and Schumann who from then on greatly influenced his work. This collection features some of his later piano pieces that eventually brought him world-wide recognition as a master composer. Written for solo piano, the works are thoroughly Scandanavian in character and feel, a quality that later changed with his introduction to German styles of music. "Niels W. Gade - Piano Pieces - Piano (Piano Solo)" weighs 4.48 oz.
