Sometimes the life of an artist is a tortured one. Such was the life of James Booker. While living a personal life filled with drugs, prison and paranoia, his professional life witnessed a style of piano playing that no man has ever been able to duplicate. Classically trained from an early age, this New Orleans native went on to study under jazz master Ellis Marsalis, and later performed with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Fats Domino, Ringo Starr and Jerry Garcia of the "Grateful Dead", as well as with many others. His style has influenced such noted piano players as Dr. John, George Winston, and one of James' students, Harry Connick, Jr. This folio contains some of James' best music written for solo piano, as well as an in-depth study of his unique style and contributions to the piano.
