The Swinging Beginning
This book contains songs for beginning alto saxophone and baritone saxophone students. It can be used in lessons, or at home, and also when performing. On the accompanying CD (included with this book) you will find the melody of each tune, which will allow you to play all of the songs even if you cannot read music very well. You can play these same melodies to the accompaniment of the band on the CD, or you can create your own solo! You can also play the tunes with a guitarist, pianist or keyboard players. A separate sheet showing their chords is provided.
We recommend this awesome book for a player with one or two years of playing experience, that wants to branch out into swing/jazz with some improvisation work. This is a quality book, and we recommend it highly.
Each song is included on the CD two times. The first time is just the melody so you can hear what it sounds like and the second time is an accompaniment track in full band format. This is one of the best individual method books we've seen in a long time. This book of saxophone sheet music is full of pictures, diagrams, and tons of helpful instructional comments. Designed for a person just starting out on an E Flat saxophone (alto or baritone saxes), this book includes a CD of examples and play-along songs. This is a great saxophone method book!
Notes about the CD: Each music example in the book is included on the CD, so you can hear how it sounds and play along when you are ready. Each example on the CD is preceded by one measure of "clicks" to indicate the tempo and meter. Pan right to hear the instrumental part emphasized and pan left to hear the accompaniment only.
