Essential Elements: A Comprehensive Band Method Book 1 - Alto Saxophone
The "Essential Elements" band method is one of the best band methods in print. Written by a team of skilled experts, this book features 140 short songs and etudes, an easy-to-use fingering chart, a two page section titled "The Basics" (embouchure, posture, breathing, etc.), and a short history of the instrument. There's even a glossary of common musical terms and their definitions. We often use this book in our teaching studios, and highly recommend it! There is a CD play-along recording available separately. We recommend the use of those recordings - the student will be able to develop better pitch perception, rhythmic accuracy, and ensemble playing skills.
